Should You Shut Down Your Show with Leighann Lovely

In this episode of Podcast Host Army, Josh interviews Leighann Lovely, a sales expert and host of the podcasts Let's Talk Air: Humanising the Conversation and the upcoming Love Your Sales. Leanne discusses her transition from HR to sales and her belief in an empathetic, problem-solving approach to marketing. She explains the concept behind her new podcast, emphasizing the importance of love and understanding in the industry.

I'm excited to share some insights from a recent conversation I had with the remarkable Leanne Lovely, a podcast host with a unique perspective on sales.

Leighann, who you may know from her current podcast Let's Talk Air: Humanising the Conversation, is embarking on a new journey with her upcoming podcast, Love Your Sales, launching in January 2024.

Why the shift, you ask? Leighann felt her previous podcast was causing some confusion about her expertise. She wanted to align her brand and focus solely on sales, hence the birth of Love Your Sales. The name, suggested during a group discussion, perfectly encapsulates her approach to sales - one that's filled with love, empathy, and a focus on understanding and solving problems for people.

Here are some key takeaways from our chat:

  1. Sales is about Connection: Leighann believes that sales shouldn't be a dreaded task. Instead, it should be about connecting with others, understanding their needs, and offering solutions.
  2. Empathy is Key: With a background in HR, Leighann brings an empathetic approach to sales. She emphasizes the importance of getting to know people before discussing how her product can solve their problems.
  3. Love Your Sales: Leighann's new podcast aims to change the narrative around sales. It's not about pushing a product, but about loving the process and the people you're helping.

I was truly inspired by Leighann's fresh perspective on sales, and I'm sure you will be too. So, mark your calendars for January 2024 and join Leighann on her new podcast journey.

Josh (00:00:03) - We got five minutes on the clock. What is your name and your podcast show?

Leighann (00:00:07) - Yeah, my name is Leighann. Lovely. I actually have a podcast that is going live right now or that is running live right now called Let's Talk Air. Humanising the conversation that I am sunsetting, and in the midst of recording and launching a new podcast called Love Your Sales, coming in January of 2024. Yeah. So you're in the process.

Josh (00:00:29) - This is we met a long time ago and you were cranking the show doing really well, but you're shutting it and starting a new one. Why would one do that?

Leighann (00:00:39) - Yeah, it was heartbreaking. Well, first of all, when you first when I first met you, um, it was a recommendation somebody made to me that, you know, maybe it's time to, to move on from it. And I'm like, no, definitely not going to do that. But I realized it's not in alignment with what I do. And people were getting confused. Are you an HR lady or are you a sales lady? And I'm like, well, I'm sales, but I have an HR background, which is why I talk about that.

Leighann (00:01:08) - So it made sense for me to say, okay, it's time to move on and really align me and my brand. To, you know, be completely and totally perfect. And that's what I did. So now I'm my business is love your sales. My podcast is love your sales.

Josh (00:01:31) - Love your sales. Why do you call it that?

Leighann (00:01:34) - Well, my name is Leanne Lovely. And I threw it out to a group and said, what should I name my business? And they're like, well, it should say love or something. And somebody said, what about love your sales? And I'm like, yeah, I kind of like that.

Josh (00:01:48) - I kind of like it too, because when I think some people hear sales or salesmen or saleswoman or whatever the case may be, it's kind of like a salesman, right? But you're turning it on its head where love your sales. Like, what's your approach? Like, what's your number one approach to sales that's maybe different from the other salespeople out there?

Leighann (00:02:10) - Well, first of all, I'm a fractional sales individual and.

Leighann (00:02:15) - Sales should not be hard. It shouldn't be something that people hate. And often we misconceived that, oh man, sales are just they're really difficult. Or that companies you walk in and as the sales person, you walk in and people are like, oh man, I don't want to talk to the sales person. They're out there having fun. I'm doing all the hard work. It's not people should be working in in tandem and together because each person has their skill. And they should work in that pocket. So, you know, I remind me of what the question was.

Josh (00:02:56) - You're a different approach. Well, you're you're saying that there's this view of sales and sales people and like, you approach it differently. And I could tell by your spirit and like who you are, you really do love sales, even as a fractional sales leader.

Leighann (00:03:11) - Here's here's one of the things that I drill into people is that you don't have to be an expert in any one thing other than knowing, understanding, and loving humans, loving people, and wanting to get to know people.

Leighann (00:03:29) - Once you do that, and you can understand and get to know that person, whatever product you have or whatever, if your product solves a problem for them, you can then approach them and say, let's talk about what problem I can solve for you through the product offering I have. That's what it's about. It's about connection, community, understanding. Period.

Josh (00:03:55) - When you watch a movie like Glengarry, you know coffee's for closure and close. Those deals always be closing. You know, like in you're approaching it with empathy, love and solving a problem. Where did you learn that? And I know we only have a minute left.

Leighann (00:04:11) - Um, just I through honestly, through my background in people want to be heard. That's it. People want to be heard and understood. Man, woman. Nature.

Josh (00:04:24) - What a great because you're bringing an empathy to the level of sales. Really awesome. Where could people go in January to listen in to your podcast?

Leighann (00:04:33) - It'll be it'll be everywhere on all of the normal platforms.

Leighann (00:04:36) - But you can find on my website at love your sales.com.

Josh (00:04:40) - Love your sales. We did that all under five minutes guys. I hope you've enjoyed this conversation. As always, reach out to our guests.
